Fender Princeton Reverb Tube Amplifier (1966)

Fender Princeton Reverb Tube Amplifier (1966)

Fender Princeton Reverb Model Tube Amplifier (1966), made in Fullerton, California, serial # A-13665, black tolex covering finish.
Height is 16 in. (40.6 cm.), 20 in. (50.8 cm.) width, and 9 1/4 in. (23.5 cm.) deep. We sometimes describe instruments as "player grade", which means they are fully functional but have damage or modifications that affects the "collector" value adversely. This is a "player grade" Princeton reverb, a great sounding amp with a few irreversible modifications that make it a great gigger more than showpiece. First, the power transformer has been replaced functionally but artlessly, with some rather crude cutting of the chassis pan to fit. The rest of the interior is relatively original with a new power switch and some typical cap work.

The tolex-covered box with the original tube chart and the chassis are from 1966 (August, according to the chart's code stamp) and are actually in pretty clean shape, without a lot of wear. The Fender-branded Jensen speaker and probably the baffle and grille are from 1980, the reverb tank is a new Accutronics unit. The faceplate has the weirdest anomaly-the "Princeton Reverb-Amp" logo looks to have been inexplicably scrubbed off, and then re-created using a surprisingly good looking but technically inaccurate applique technique. There's some history we don't know behind this one, but we DO know it's newly tweaked and sounding great, a fine gigging blackface Princeton you don't have to be too precious with. Overall Very Good + Condition.
