C. F. Martin 00-18C Classical Guitar (1964)
C. F. Martin 00-18C Model Classical Guitar (1964), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 194890, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, brown hard shell case.
Overall length is 38 1/2 in. (97.8 cm.), 14 1/8 in. (35.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/4 in. (641 mm.). Width of nut is 2 in. (51 mm.).
This nice-playing "C" model guitar was Martin's response to the Folk market's appetite for nylon string guitars in the 1960s. While built with Martin's traditional materials, it is essentially a traditional fan-braced concert guitar with a 1920s-style Martin headstock. These were fairly popular for a time, strummed in many "Hoots" of the '60s.
This one is played in but not heavily worn, the finish showing dings, dents, and scrapes but no heavy wear. The only alteration is the neck appears to have been sanded just slightly along the back with a light clear overfinish added. There is also some minor touch-up to the top near the bottom edge. This is a pleasant-playing and sounding guitar, and while unlikely to challenge anyone's Ramirez in the concert hall performs quite well as intended. A good knock-around nylon string, and one could always add a Baldwin pickup and pursue those dreams of Willie Nelson too! Very Good + Condition.
