Fender Princeton 5D2 Tube Amplifier (1955)
Fender Princeton 5D2 Model Tube Amplifier (1955), made in Fullerton, California, serial # P00016, tweed fabric covering finish.
Height is 12 in. (30.5 cm.), 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm.) width, and 7 3/4 in. (19.7 cm.) in depth at deepest point.
This is a medium clean amp overall, showing wear but not major abuse. The tweed covering shows some typical scuffing and more wear to the corners, with some typical cigarette burns on top. The chrome on the faceplate is still relatively clean. A repro handle and three prong cord has been added, but otherwise the interior looks pretty much the same as when Lily wired it up in 1955. The original Jensen speaker dates to the 4th week of 1955, and the tube chart is coded "EE", designating May of that year.
As an historical oddity, this amp has one of the very first "P" series serial numbers (P00016), which are usually assumed to begin with the subsequent 5F2 models. This is a moderately worn but nice example of this always great-sounding amp, punchy but with a serious snarl when pushed. Excellent - Condition.
