Butler  Flageolet/Piccolo ,  c. 1870

Butler Flageolet/Piccolo, c. 1870, made in London, German silver mounted cocus-wood with ivory mouthpeice, original brown embossed leather & wood case.

The piccolo/flageolet body has German silver pin mounted keys and is stamped "Butler, Haymarket, London". The piccolo headjoint is mounted and capped in German silver. The flageolet head joint and spongecap are also mounted in German silver with it's original ivory mouthpeice and stamped "Butler". All the sections are fitted in a red velvet lined case.
Overall Length is 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.), 9/16 in. (1.4 cm.) diameter of head piece. Sounding length is 10 3/16 in. (259 mm.).

The wood is nicely preserved and has no cracks at all. Playable but needs new pads. Excellent Condition.
