Fender Jazzmaster Solid Body Electric Guitar (1960)
Fender Jazzmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1960), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 58318, sunburst lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
This is a seriously played but all-original slab-board Jazzmaster with a neck date of 12-60, complete with the original brown tolex case. These early 60's Jazzmasters were the top of the Fender line and are exceptionally fine instruments, with a still-unique sound. This one belonged to a band named "Dale Hutchison and the Uniques" (the ghost of the name is visible on the upper case edge) and likely served them well for some years; it's newly set up and ready for its next 50 years of service.
Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). This is a pretty well-worn but a complete and all original old Jazzmaster; well used but not abused. There is a LOT of wear to the body edges but not so much on the face, which has a lovely faded sunburst that almost looks 2-tone. The neck is surprizingly clean and the frets still have some life in them, there is some light wear to the fingerboard up to the 7th-8th fret area but nothing serious. There is a small filled chip on the bass edge of the fingerboard between the 2nd and 3rd frets, and half of the upper split barrel on the high E tuner is broken off (which does not affect the tuner's function). Great sound, very crisp and powerful pickups, just a very nice old Fender, with a nice if also well-worn brown OHSC. Overall Very Good + Condition.
